Saint Xenia of Saint Petersburg

Saint Xenia of Saint Petersburg (c. 1719–1806) was a Russian Orthodox fool-for-Christ who gave away all her possessions after the sudden death of her husband, Colonel Andrei Petrov. Dressed in her late husband's military uniform, she wandered the streets of St. Petersburg as a homeless ascetic, enduring poverty, cold, and mockery while praying for the salvation of her husband's soul. Known for her gift of prophecy and miraculous intercessions, she helped those in need and foretold future events, including the death of Empress Elizabeth and the reign of Catherine the Great. Glorified in 1978, she is one of the most beloved saints in the Russian Orthodox Church, especially invoked by those seeking a spouse, a home, or help in difficulties.
